2nd Caravan Antique Car to El Triunfo

On Saturday March 15 was held our 2nd Caravan Antique Car , with destination the historic community called " El Triunfo " . On this small town located about 50 km south of our beautiful city and port of La Paz, let me share a brief history.

El Triunfo is a former mining town that still keeps in its memory the days of glory and wealth. With old buildings , remodeled houses and huge fireplaces that survived the passage of time. The rise of El Triunfo mining town as occurred in the nineteenth century , when they were discovered deposits of gold and silver that led to the establishment of the mining company El Progreso. The prosperity of these lands carried to 4000 increasing the number of people , many of them citizens of countries like France, Italy , Germany , China and England , who came to El Triunfo to perform the work themselves extraction. Early twentieth century , the mining company concluded its activities in the village and the population was reduced again to the 200 who were initially .

Currently El Triunfo invites visitors to learn your vestiges stand as undeniable sign of a prosperous past , for example , the main fireplace , " Ramona " that has a height of 47 meters and was designed by the French engineer Gustave Eiffel. While a smaller fireplace name "Julia" , stands 300 meters away from the first . While the era of gold and silver left behind , El Triunfo still keeps a small treasure. The Music Museum , a site that houses a valuable collection of about 87 pianos, some even of the seventeenth century.

Ready to enjoy such a beautiful place , which by the way is prepared for the weekend to celebrate their " Festival of Crafts " , we start from La Paz around 9:15 am, and after almost an hour of travel , our caravan stopped on the hill overlooking the village of El Triunfo is clearly seen , after the obligatory photo shots , we continue to reach the village and park our cars on the main street (which is the same road through the village) ; cars immediately aroused the interest not only of the inhabitants, but several drivers passing through the village, the rate decreased to appreciate the cars, and some even stopped to watch them closely and take pictures. After the arrangement of the cars , the group of owners and guests walked into the restaurant "Café El Triunfo ," where owner Mark Sphar , partner in the trailer with his 1947 GMC Pick Up , waiting with a reserved table in the cozy terrace rear of the premises, and so , over breakfast and we lived pleasantly , our cars were another attraction in the village, even serving as a backdrop for photographs of a young girl celebrating her 15 years .

The number of cars and participants increased slightly compared to the previous trailer. Again, Roberto González (mechanical ) behavior was pending our cars all the way , that achieving a smooth path for breakdowns .
