Z Magnette Day 2006

at Fortress Ehrenbreitstein, Koblenz,Germany

11 Magnettes  - 4 countries - 21 adults - 10 children - aged from 1,5 to 65+
These are the facts of the 10th Z-Magnette Day in Germany.

To celebrate this small jubilee the founders of the Magnette Day had choosen an exclusive location but kept in mind to make it fit for families as well and keep cost down.
Nevertheless the participants could enjoy the atmosphere of an old fortress (the second largest in Europe behind Gibraltar!). Our Magnettes made a good figure around the fortress while the weather was more than kind for us.
Arrival was on Friday afternoon. After a long journey in the hot sun some beers poored down the throats in the nearby Restaurant "Ferrari" (the owner really has this name!).
The saturday morning started relaxed after breakfast with a guided tour along the fortress before we headed off for the scenic tour. This showed us some more historical sites:  we picniced at a tower of the old roman Limes (border of Roman Empire to Germany). After some more winding roads it was time for tea and cake which we got after another guided tour at Marksburg, the only castle on the river Rhine that was never destroyed and is still original!
The way back went along the river Rhine, part of the UNESCO World Heritage . After a break (Germany played at the soccer championship) it was time for the BBQ. In the beginning I couldn't get enough steaks and sausages on the grille as everybody seemed to be very hungry. But after some time they seemed to be filled up and went over to some beer. We sat outside untill midnight and enjoyed the view over the town of Koblenz and the rivers Rhine and Moselle.
On sunday morning it was time for  some pricegiving afain. The Ray Cain trophy for the first time went to England to Lis and Colin Pratt. Both have been to most of the events and even this years preferred the Z-Day instead of Silverstone, which took place at the same time. And not to forget their spectular accident with a trike a few years ago on the Magnette Day in the Netherlands.
As it was a Jubilee event everybody got a small souvinier. What fitted better in a fortzress than a tin soldier, which my son had made.
Well let's speak the pictures for themselfes....
See you next year!

Kingston Lacy

Despite a good day weather wise, we had a relatively disappointing number of cars attending the Kingston Lacy event. In total, we had 8 Magnettes (3 of which were committee members!), and one Wolseley Fifteen Fifty.

Magnettes & Steam 2006

Once again Alan Slack and the Register committee arranged an excellent venue for Magnettes and Steam (15 April 2006), and were rewarded with a good turnout.

Victorian MG Car Club
Concours 2006

7 MG Magnette ZA/ZB types attended on the day. It must be said that the quality and presentation of those participating has reached a new high. Malcolm Robertson's visit from distant Canberra was appreciated for his high quality participation. Concours judging would have been very very tough for this year.

Annual Concours D'Elegance

MG Car Club of NSW - SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA

Malcolm Robertson reports on a Grand Day Out…

In October every year, the MG Car Club of NSW, headquartered in Sydney, Australia, holds a Concours D'Elegance at picturesque Gladesville Reserve over-looking Sydney Harbour. Being a large club, the turnout of MGs is always splendid and the 200 or so cars cover just about every make and model of MG.

MG Magnettes at Speed on Tweed

by Brian Woolmer

Murwillumbah is a town on the Tweed River in northern NSW, Australia. During October, it hosts a speed festival that can best be described as a ‘horizontal hillclimb on a street circuit.’
