I just bought it from the second owner, where it was sitting in a southern California driveway for  the last 18 years. No rust, and with a virtually perfect body. The soft parts are completely shot, but the original engine turns (it was supposedly parked for overheating). 99% complete. It is my intention to restore it to completely original, as this was the same year and type that my wife learned to drive as a teenager in the '60's. Imported to Finland from Britain in 1973 and used daily after that up to 1977. Featured many years in a local Car Museum and has carefully garaged 30 years after that. A restoration started last summer and hopefully is finished in 2014. Needs some welding, brake overhaul, door seals and new paint.

Bought new from Mebes and Mebes Mill Hill by Mr Turnbull. Fitted with optional HMV valve radio at a cost of £39 5s 5d (which still works) and driven back to his home in Newcastle. He kept the car for the rest of his life, I believe it has covered less than 30000 miles and had some restoration work done in the late 80s, he sadly passed away in the mid 90s when his wife covered the car up in the garage and was not used again. I bought the car in May '14 and it is undergoing recommissioning work by me which is now nearly complete.

Last MOT'd 2000. Not used since 2001. Has ZB power unit. Very well restored at some point (ie inner wing skins intact, front wings not welded to sills) but lost jacking pts & all chrome. Log lists it as a 1954 car with 1800 cc engine (both untrue) and the MSV registration does not make sense. Should be back on the road sometime in some guise later this year. Jeremy Woolley

I am not the owner but can confirm that the car is now owned by an Italian enthusiast in Bergamo, Italy.  My wife and I went to a restaurant in Bergamo which was decorated with some motoring memorabilia and I noticed an old workshop manual on display for a MG Magnette.  The restaurant owner saw me reading the manual and then proudly showed me some photos of his restored Magnette to which the manual belongs. The car now displays Italian number registration plates but the original english registration number plates were also on display and searching for this registration on your website is how I came to contact you. I will email the restaurant owner and suggest that he might complete your car information form to add to your club's records.

This is the first Magnette we know to excist in Argentina. She was restored from 1990 to 2013 and is now back on the road. There is no ID plate, so we don't know the chassis no. bt it is said that it is a '55 car. Belongs to Edison Ulises Tato

This car was in a very poor condition when I collected it from a lock up in Birmingham. I have brought it down to Devon where it is being striped down for panel repairs and bare metal repray. I am documenting it's restoration with photographs and hope to supply it to a classic car magazine, as I would imagine it would make for a nice feature. It was built between 8th -14th April 1954 and was despatched 20th April 1954.

I owned this car in New Zealand (one of ten Magnettes I had there). I had it shipped to WA in 1993 after I had been here nine years, but was dissappointed to find it badly deteriorated. It still awaits restoration. In the photo you may notice the bonnet bent. It blew open on the truck delievering the car to Perth.

I bought it from Mr Baker and it was in a very sorry state. The rust was very advanced in all doors and mudguards, the paint work was very poor with surface rust coming through as little volcanoes, however I like to restore basket cases due to the low purchase cost and the fact that I carry out all metal restoration and paint work, the only work I contract out is the upholstery. Being retired I was able to complete the restoration in 18 months and the result is that it was judged the best restoration for 2009 by the Morris Register of South Australia.
So what does this mean? Another ZA is back on the road in original condition with an owner that will maintain it over the next x years.

Is being restored to new condition in semi-race livery. Have owned the car for 20 years. Bought car in the outskirts of Paris. Bodywork except doors is reasonably good but all chrome work is bad. Hence this project started by fitting MGB Engine OD, Gearbox + Axle +Wires = 18 years. Specification to come is as follows: Body:  Louvered bonnet, air vents in wings, sunshine roof, lightened doors plexi windows, aluminium tank, engine 3.9 Rover +5 SP Box. LSD Axle MGB + Boranni Aluminium Wheels, 4 Disc Brakes King Pins from MGB with front vented discs 2 control aims on axle + ....Panhard Rod modified dash incorporating all wood, bucket seats front + 4 point roll cage.
