Kop Hill, 21-22 September 2019

There was a good turnout for the static display at Kop Hill, with at least 8 or 9 Magnettes on both Saturday and Sunday.

The usual attractions were on offer, with the historic hill climb itself, the paddock and the club section (also food stalls and live music). Dominic Taylor-Lane did several runs of the hill in his heavily modified ZA, while the Register gazebo acted as a convenient gathering place for owners to sit and chat. On Saturday evening David and Kerri Halliday generously hosted a bbq for Magnette owners at their house which is just outside Princes Risborough

The Sunday weather was not as windy as Saturday but at 11.30 the heavens opened and with heavy rain and very low cloud the summit of Kop Hill could not be seen. Spectators disappeared as if by magic and the register gazebo proved very popular as Anthony rushed to erect the side screens. The weather caused a cessation of all cars going up the hill. The MG Cavalcade was postponed until 2.00 pm after the hill had been swept to remove the storm debris. The cavalcade was in age order with the oldest first and our Magnette was fourth in line. No racing as the object was to let people see the cars. The reception from the spectators was enthusiastic and after the ascent, and the descent took us through the town where people turned out of the pub and their houses to wave to us. Altogether worth waiting for this memorable experience.
