It is with thanks and appreciation [to the Tasmanian MG car club] we could all enjoy another National meeting in the very beautiful and historic city of Hobart. The following are some selected pictures and related text centred on the pivotal events of Registration and the Concours; Plus an additional reference to a very good car museum in Launceston. Note Hobart and Launceston are the second and third oldest of our Australian cities.

Magnettes & Steam 2012
Text & pictures by Stephen Tickell
This is the 25th consecutive year that the Register has organized an event based at a steam railway, which is an impressive record. Our historian Peter Martin confirmed that the first 'Magnettes & Steam' was held at Bishops Lydeard on the West Somerset Railway. That was in 1988, a long time before I acquired my ZBV, and was organized by Warren Marsh. He later handed over to Alan Slack who has continued tirelessly to seek out suitable preserved railways all over the country. It's a simple but attractive formula - a social gathering in a novel location, with no booking required, and interesting things to see and do during the day.

Classic Car of the Year competition
The Classic car of the year was voted last weekend at the NEC classic car show. You know that Grant Howlett made it into to top five amoung 20 other classiccs and was invited to present his car at the show. The Magnette was the runner up, the first place went to the E-type Jaguar, which was well deserved, it was a superb car with a great owner. (Well, this could be said for the magnette as well!). So a BIG Congratulation Grant from the Magnette world! You did a superb job and good publicity for the Magnette. Here are some shots:
