Hi all,
Very proudly just took receipt of a 1958 ZB Varitone.
Original B series engine.
Had to drive it back from Taunton to Northamptonshire.
Stopped 3x on the way just to ease the journey and never went over 50mph. The car appeared very happy at this speed.
Oil pressure was reading a steady 70psi (on the meter in the car) whilst driving and the temp gauge stayed on the central white mark.
When I stopped for more fuel the car ran over a little (not much I might add) almost a stutter then full stop.
I did notice however that when I would come to a stop in the vehicle the idle speed sounded high, as though it was struggling to drop back to just a normal tick over.
When I got home however and switched the car off to put it in the garage, when I came to turn it back on again it wouldn't start, it just turned over and I believe with the smell that I flooded it (idiot!!)
I have left it now for 24 hours to fully cool and intend to try to start it again tonight, but I was more concerned with the over run and the high tick over.
Any info would be extremely grateful
Thank you
Nick
