here's an explanation How to read the ID plate,which also gives some details:

You may also look at the gallery and see where your chasssis no. fits, to see the appr. date when built. But the Heritage Certificate is more accurate.

Hello Darshan,
I fortunately was in England at that time visiting the British Heritage Museum. So I was able to check myself that they had data for my car.
Maybe you should just try to call them and ask if they could briefly check if they have record for the given car number.

I have looked up the link,however I have only One Concern is that after giving the details of the Engine & Chassis No. and making the requisite payment if they are not able to find the data ?

The MG is in India , Kolkata from 1959 and was owned by MR.MILL a Britisher working for the Union Carbide Company in Kolkata.
The MG was bought over from him in 1968 when we had heading back to England from Kolkata.
Your Insight on the matter will help me a long way in this .

Good Afternoon Friends,

I have recently bought a MG Magnette ZA Series from an Previous Owner.

The Car No/Chassis No. KAJ 13/13088.
The Engine No. BP 15 GA/13012.

How can i know in which year was the Car Manufactured and also the Orignal colour code, at present the colour on the Car is Green.

I would also like to buy a stearing wheel for the car as the orignal onehas cracked .
