BMC consolidation resulted in a common platform for all mid-size Austin, Morris, Wolseley, MG and Riley saloons, based on a Pininfarina body design and built at Cowley. The MG and Riley versions had twin carburettors and better equipped interiors, but were otherwise very similar to the Austin Cambridge/Morris Oxford. Hence the MkIII and IV Magnettes launched in 1959 and 1961 are usually referred to as 'Farina' to distinguish them from the Z Magnettes they replaced
