(Well, I know every MAGNETTE is special, even in front of a garage!)

Two long-abandoned Scottish 'Pugs'. Andrew Barclay 0-4-0ST works No.1807 built in 1923, (providing a useful parking facility for a MG Z Magnette), is facing Grant Ritchie-built 0-4-0ST works No.272 built in 1894.

The Barclay had lain disused in this yard since late 1970, when it was brought from NCB Scottish North Area, Valleyfield Colliery, Newmills. The Grant Ritchie had arrived in the yard during November 1969 from NCB Scottish North Area, Rothes Colliery. Considering that they had stood for over 20 years out in the open at the Thomas Muir scrapyard at Thornton, Fife, they has faired reasonably well apart from sinking into the ground. Photographed in the rain on 10th December 1992.

The Grant Ritchie is now at the Ribble Railway in Preston and the Barclay is still owned by Thomas Muir Ltd.
